1958 Chevrolet Corvette
Description
1958 Signet Red Corvette Roadster with Hardtop. 283ci V8 with 4 speed manual.
1958 Chevrolet Corvette was restored by the previous owner in 1992 with work that included a repaint in Signet Red with white coves, a re-trim of the interior in signet red, and a rebuild of the 283ci V8 and the four-speed manual transmission the previous owner stored it as part of a collection until 2023. In the fall of 2023 work that was preformed was servicing the fluids, re-coring the radiator, and replacing the water pump, battery, and fuel pump. The car is equipped with a body-color removable hardtop, lap belts, dual exhaust outlets, and 15″ steel wheels with chrome covers. This Corvette was refinished in Signet red with white coves during the early-1990s refurbishment, and exterior equipment includes a removable body-color hardtop, quadruple headlights, split chrome bumpers, fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets. The 15″ steel wheels feature spinner-style covers and are mounted with 6.70-15 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs. The interior features two bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl along with a color-coordinated dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, and a Wonder Bar AM radio. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, battery charge, and oil pressure. The 283ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 230 horsepower. The the engine was rebuilt in the early 1990s, and the car was stored from 1994 to 2023. Work in the fall of 2023 included servicing the fluids, re-coring the radiator, and replacing the water pump, battery, and fuel pump. The stamping on the engine pad is shown above. The CQ suffix is consistent with a 283ci V8 rated at 230 horsepower and designated for a 1958 Corvette with a four-barrel carburetor and a manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
