1. Who we are

RareCars.com is operated by Rarecars, Inc, a California corporation ("we", "our", "us"). We are a marketplace for collectible, classic, exotic and rare cars, based in Silicon Valley, California. This policy explains what we collect when you use RareCars.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and who we share it with.

2. Information we collect

  1. Account details: name, email address, password (stored in protected form), and phone number if you add it.
  2. Listing details (sellers and dealers): vehicle details, photos, price, location of the car, and contact details you provide.
  3. Inquiry details (buyers): your name, email address, phone number if given, and the message you send about a listing.
  4. Fast Cash Offer details: your contact details, vehicle details and photos, and any information you add about the car.
  5. Newsletter sign-up: your email address and the verification code step that confirms it.
  6. Contact and dealer forms: what you type in, such as name, business name and message.
  7. Payment details: when you pay for a Private Sale or a Dealer plan, your card is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We never receive your full card number or security code. We may store limited card information, such as card brand, last 4 digits and expiry date.
  8. Usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and similar technical data.
  9. Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, protect forms from abuse, and understand how the Site is used. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), which set analytics cookies. We do not use advertising pixels.

3. How we use your information

  1. To run the Site, your account and your listings.
  2. To review listings. We review listings within 24 hours.
  3. To send your inquiry to the seller or dealer of the car you asked about.
  4. To prepare and respond to Fast Cash Offers.
  5. To process payments and manage Dealer plans.
  6. To send service emails, such as sign-up and verification codes, password resets, inquiry notices and receipts.
  7. To send our newsletter, only after you verify your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing sales@rarecars.com.
  8. To prevent spam, fraud and abuse, including human checks on our sign-up, listing, inquiry, contact, Fast Cash and newsletter forms.
  9. To provide support and improve the Site.
  10. To meet legal obligations.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell or share your personal information. We share information only as follows: 1. With sellers and dealers, when you send an inquiry. Your name, contact details and message go to the seller or dealer of that listing. The email is set so that when the seller or dealer replies, the reply goes to you. After that first message, you and the seller or dealer can continue by email. RareCars.com also receives a copy of each inquiry at sales@rarecars.com. 2. With buyers, when you list a car. The listing details you publish are public. Contact with buyers starts through RareCars.com. When a buyer sends an inquiry, we give the buyer your contact email so they can reply to you. 3. With dealer partners, for Fast Cash Offers. To submit a Fast Cash request, you must agree that RareCars.com may share your car and contact info (including car details and photos) with dealer partners. Our team shares them by hand; there is no automatic sharing. 4. With service providers who work for us, under their own security and privacy terms: 1. Stripe, for payments. 2. Postmark, for sending Site emails. 3. Cloudflare, only for the human check on some forms (Turnstile), which receives your IP address and browser signals while the check runs. 4. DigitalOcean, for hosting, our database, and file and photo storage (in the United States). 5. Google, for Google Workspace (our sales@rarecars.com email), Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4. 5. For legal reasons: if required by law, or in response to valid requests by courts or government agencies, or to protect our rights, users or the public. 6. In a business transfer: if RareCars.com is merged, sold or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that deal.

5. How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as your account or listing is active and as needed for the purposes above, legal obligations and disputes. We delete inquiries and Fast Cash requests 2 years after we receive them, unless we need them longer for legal reasons.

6. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and protected passwords. No method of transfer or storage is fully secure.

7. Your choices and rights

  1. You can update your account details in your profile.
  2. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by emailing sales@rarecars.com.
  3. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop certain uses of it, by emailing sales@rarecars.com. We may need to verify your identity.
  4. California residents may have additional rights under California law, including the right to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. To make a request, email sales@rarecars.com. We will respond within 45 days.
  5. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.

8. Children

The Site is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If you have an active Dealer plan, we will also email you about material changes.
